requirements

What Superset Files needs to run.

operating system macOS 12+

Monterey or later.

processor Universal

One universal build runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs.

build opens normally

Opens like any trusted Mac app — no "unidentified developer" warning, because every build is signed and notarized by Apple.

installing

Three steps.

The installer is an ordinary signed .dmg. No account, no setup wizard.

  1. Open the disk image.

Double-click the downloaded .dmg to mount it.

  2. Drag to Applications.

Drag the icon along the labelled arrow into Applications — the disk image draws the path for you.

  3. Open it the first time.

It opens like any trusted Mac app — no "unidentified developer" warning and no extra security workaround needed.

updates

Updates happen inside the app.

When a new version is ready, Superset Files updates itself — it notices, downloads, and installs the new build without sending you to a website or the Mac App Store. It has done this cleanly across releases.

questions

Before you download.

Does it run on Intel Macs?

Yes. The download is a universal build that runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs — one download for either.

Will it be on the Mac App Store?

Direct download comes first. A Mac App Store listing is being considered for later, but there is no committed date.

Can I verify the download?

Yes. The SHA-256 checksum for Superset-Files-0.6.0-universal.dmg is:

b4d1122b6c3d436e6ac7bddc63c837bb9491a958e35f86b837c62687b844eb70

In Terminal, run shasum -a 256 on the downloaded file and compare the output. Separately, macOS verifies the build's Apple signature and notarization automatically the first time you open it.

What happens after I download it?

Superset Files runs on a 14-day free trial — the full app, no card. When the trial ends, a one-time license unlocks it again — $24 founding price. See the pricing page for the details.

Is this the same app as Apache Superset?

No — they're unrelated projects. Superset Files is a Mac app for your local folders. More on the name in the home page FAQ.
